MERCK SUE THE APPEALS COMMISSION OF TRADEMARK

The German pharmaceutical company, Merck KGaA Trademark Appeal Commission sued the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), because the pharmaceutical companies for registration Dolofenac brand is rejected by the Appeal Commission. The Brand was filed to protect items such as tools and veterinary pharmaceuticals. The reasons for refusal it is brand Dolofenac has similarities principally with Dolofen brand owned by other companies owned by PT Bogamulia Nagadi namely that also protects pharmaceutical goods. Brand Dolofenac with Dolofen have phonetic similarities or speech sounds and only distinguished by two letters only. (Kompas.com October 27, 2011)
